Outdoor Play

Outdoor play at Egerton Nursery and Out Of School Club

Here at Egerton Nursery and Out of School Club Bolton we consider outdoor play to be an essential part of our regular routines.  Our co- location with Egerton Community School, Bolton provides us with large spaces for the children to run freely, climb, balance; negotiate space, catch and throw and above all have lots of fun.

Our outdoor space is shared with Egerton Community School’s Reception children allowing us to provide lots of opportunities for learning through physical activity such as water play, role play and a construction area. Sharing with Reception is a great transition for those children who progress into Egerton Community School, Bolton as they are familiar with the area.

We also have an outdoor reading area, opportunity for children to work on their fine motor skills by drawing or cutting, a play kitchen and a small world for children to develop their imagination and social skills with others.

Outdoor play, whatever the weather, is so beneficial to a child’s learning and development, their sense of fun and their emotional well-being.

Through outdoor play at Egerton Nursery and Out of School Club, Bolton, we will help your child to develop:

  • Essential movement skills; core strength and stability and spatial awareness.

  • Co-ordination and control needed to develop other areas of learning such as using tools, writing implements etc.

  • Strong bones and muscles, maintain a healthy weight and help create good lifelong attitudes to exercise.

  • Imagination and confidence, feel good, and above all have lots of fun!
