Transitons to school

At Egerton Nursery and out of School Club, we are here to make sure your child’s transition to school is a positive experience and a good preparation for coping with the many transitions they will go on to make in the future.

Supportive adults are an essential part of this process; our experienced practitioners will share all relevant information and do all they can to facilitate a smooth move minimising potential stresses for everyone.

Here at Egerton Nursery and Out of School Club, Bolton, we are very privileged that we are attached to Egerton Community Primary School, Bolton. Because of the established links and being based on the same site, this provides a unique experience for children attending Egerton Nursery to become involved in many aspects of regular school life:-

  • Familiar building for any child moving on to Egerton Community Primary Reception class.

  • Children become familiar with teaching staff and other members of staff within the school.

  • It’s easier to share information and put plans in place between professionals - especially important for SEND children.

  • Children become familiar with school routines and siblings are on site.

  • We use the school lunch time catering service.

  • We attend regular events with the children -for example assemblies, themed events.

  • We use the outdoor play area within the Early Years area.

  • Children become familiar with older children wearing school uniform who attend Out of School Club.

  • Staff are knowledgeable about school and can provide information needed.
